In our ongoing commitment to clean air and environmental responsibility, our company has taken a significant step toward reducing CO₂ emissions and embracing the globally recognized Green Energy movement.

We are proud to partner with NIL CARBON UK to support a transformative initiative: the distribution of low-emission cookstoves across plantation estates in Sri Lanka. These innovative cookstoves are provided free of charge to households currently relying on traditional firewood methods for daily cooking.

This project not only addresses urgent issues such as deforestation and carbon emissions, but also helps mitigate long-term health risks caused by indoor air pollution—particularly among women and children, who are most affected by smoke-related respiratory illnesses and eye conditions.

By reducing firewood consumption by up to 70%, these cookstoves play a vital role in forest conservation while improving air quality within homes. The initiative also creates sustainable employment opportunities in logistics, healthcare, and education within the participating regions, supporting Sri Lanka’s national goals for economic development and job creation.

Aligned with all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this Clean Energy Cookstove Project is designed to be a global benchmark in sustainable development, while directly contributing to Sri Lanka’s environmental, social, and climate change policies—including gender equality and poverty alleviation.

As part of our long-term vision, we are also exploring the potential of acquiring land to cultivate Jak trees, Moringa, and Bamboo—natural carbon absorbers that further enhance the impact of our environmental strategy.

Through this initiative, we reaffirm our dedication to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.

Clima Core (Pvt) Ltd. – Carbon Neutral Project

Clima Core (Pvt) Ltd., a subsidiary of Delmon Holdings, is dedicated to creating a sustainable future through innovative carbon-neutral initiatives. Our mission is to contribute towards environmental well-being, improve air quality in Sri Lanka, and uplift the lives of local communities.

Clean Cooking Programme

At present, Clima Core is actively engaged in the Clean Cooking Programme in partnership with Nil Carbon Lanka. Through this initiative, we are distributing improved cook stoves to plantation families—designed to significantly lower firewood consumption and reduce harmful emissions.

These stoves deliver multiple benefits:

• Reduction of CO₂ and CO emissions by nearly 30%
• Mitigation of respiratory health risks in estate communities
• Decreased dependency on unsustainable firewood sources

Community Development Focus

Our long-term vision extends beyond clean energy solutions. Clima Core is committed to enhancing the education, health, and welfare of estate communities through initiatives such as:

• Building schools and small health clinics
• Improving water and sanitation facilities
• Supporting child nutrition by providing a daily glass of milk to school children

Afforestation & Carbon Sequestration

One of our most ambitious projects is the large-scale afforestation programme, for which we plan to obtain 25,000 hectares of government land on long-term lease. With active involvement of local families, we will plant:

• 1 million Coconut trees
• 500,000 Jackfruit (Kos) trees
• 500,000 Moringa trees

Beyond significant carbon sequestration, this project will create local employment opportunities and ensure that all produce from these trees is distributed free of charge to surrounding communities.

Biomass Energy Solutions

To further expand our sustainability efforts, Clima Core is also exploring biomass energy innovations. Current plans include converting paddy husk and paddy waste into eco-friendly pellets, offering a renewable alternative to firewood for our cook stoves. Discussions with leading paddy mill owners are underway to establish this biomass supply chain in the near future.
